A selection of some local routes
With a wealth of local knowledge amongst our members and all their riding experience, we have compiled a few routes that can be used four our regular rides. These aren't prescribed, rather a handy resource for ride coordinators. If you've got any suggestions, why not drop us a message.

Classic routes
This is the standard East loop for chaingang training - mostly flat, but a few ramps to dig in on. Get those pedals spinning and stay on the gas back to Musselburgh.
The Bathgate Alps has some of the best (i.e. worst) climbs in the Lothian area, and this route has four of the best (worst) climbs in the Bathgate Alps. Don't look down at your cassette to see if you have any gears left, you haven't!
An alternative chaingang route, Linlithgow out and back. After the turn at Linlithgow start winding up for a good launch on the straight run back.
This is the classic Bathgate Alps route - heading out west through Kirkliston and Winchburgh before heading up to Beecraigs above Linlithgow. Don't worry, there's the reward of the Binny Bomb Drop descent on the way home.
Heading out to East Lothian, climbing up to Humbie, then rolling round by Fala, before heading home through Midlothian. Some short sharp climbs to test the legs. Lumpy!
The Two Houses route tours through two of Edinburgh's great estates - Dalmeny and Hopetoun. It offers a wide variety of terrain, modest hills & spectacular views in a shortish loop; it's become a Club staple for both training & social rides.
